Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis as a therapeutic modality or technique. Combining the natural power of hypnosis, in a comfortable safe setting and with a skilled hypnotherapist, allows for highly effective results in attaining your goals. In the first session, you and your hypnotherapist will discuss what you are seeking and the two of you will agree upon an overall approach to the therapy as well as a timeline. With each session, your hypnotherapist will work with your subconscious mind to help you reach your desired goals.
The technique of using hypnosis was discovered as early as 1765 by Franz Anton Mesmer, who gave hypnosis its first name and called it Mesmerism. Mezmer believed that he possessed the ability to magnetize people into his control and had many followers, to the point of becoming quite a celebrity in his time. Eighty years later, Dr. James Braid would use hypnosis with many of his patients and eventually give it the name Hypnotism, from the Greek word Hypnos, which means to sleep. These early practitioners of hypnosis would pave the way for thousands of others over the next 150 years. Hypnosis in modern times is popular all over the world. From hypnotherapists, doctors, and life coaches to sports teams and performers, using hypnotherapy has become a popular way to reach new goals, overcome fears and phobias, enhance performance, manage anxiety and stress, and increase success and happiness.
